The Sleighing
Saturday, 17 December 2011 16:47 | Written by Compiled and Edited by Jeremy Johnson
The Sleighing, &c.- Yesterday the snow, having become packed, made capital sleighing. Everything in the shape of sleighs and cutters was brought into requisition: the fast men and boys with their 2-4 nags were all out and their speed well tested. The livery stables were besieged from morning to night, demanding more 'rigs' than they could supply. Verily, Christmas has "arrived".
Christmas Lunch- Today, John Olmstead, of the Albany Restaurant, proposes to give a free lunch at his rooms, consisting of two roast pigs and a large supply of pork and beans. John, as everybody knows, can get things up to suit the most epicurian appetite. So, lovers of good things will not fail to give John a Christmas Call.
